The Wrap-Up: May 8, 2012

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
Today is the day of decision on North Carolina's discriminatory Amendment One. If you're from the state or know a registered voter who is, make sure they know what this bill does and who it hurts and, most importantly, make sure you/they vote against it.

A day after Vice President Joe Biden endorsed marriage equality, the White House Press Secretary spent half of a press conference on the issue. After all that dancing, he must be tired.

It looks like Santorum and Romney kissed and made up late Monday night.

Reince Priebus, the RNC Chairman doesn't know what his party's candidate thinks in terms of marriage equality.

The state of the race: 2 swing states are ties and 10 are up in the air.

A wave of birtherism is hitting North Carolina.

After facing public pressure, anti-gay Nebraska football coach Ron Brown has stated that he will not testify against a proposed anti-LGBT discrimination ordinance in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Being so homophobic that you try to take back the word "gay" sounds, well, pretty gay (if recent research has anything to say). I think this homophobic pastor will have to find that out the hard way.

It's interesting how the numbers tend to speak in direct opposition to what Republicans are saying about President Obama's "anti-business" record and how it's smothering businesses.

And lastly, MSNBC's Thomas Roberts interviews Randy Roberts Potts on marriage equality.

The Wrap-Up: March 9, 2012

ADDENDUM: The February jobs report came in and 227,000 jobs were created in that month. Get ready to hear the GOP explain how it's all thanks to them and the Obama administration deserves zero credit. (The report came out just after this was originally posted)

The settlement reached in the Anoka-Hennpin school district has some far-reaching affects regrading anit-LGBT bullying.

There's some potentially good news out of Maryland. Remember, at the end of the day, these things usually come down to who turns out at the polls.

As a true sign of the impending apocalypse, Republicans are speaking against Grover Norquist's anti-tax pledge.

Yesterday marked the 500th day of Barack Obama's "evolution" on marriage equality.

I think when the military was doing the training after DADT was repealed, they missed a spot (or this Master Sergeant was out sick that day).

I'm wondering why a Nebraska football coach was testifying on (in this case, against) a town ordinance prohibiting LGBT discrimination. Although he certainly comes off as an expert...on doing the discriminating that is.

GOProud and Sam "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelberger are working together, meaning neither has any credibility (not that they did before of course).

And lastly, it looks like OMM's boycott of JCPenney didn't go so well. What a pity...

The Wrap-Up: January 20, 2012

Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX)
Hours before last night's debate, Rick Perry dropped his bid for the GOP nomination. I'm sure you're all surprised.

Last night's GOP debate on CNN was sponsored by (prepare to be ill before reading)...

Advocate.com has pinned an op-ed about Karen Santorum's remarks regarding the gay community's dealings with her husband.

So, about opposite-sex couples being better parents than same-sex couples...

A study shows a relation between a state's tax rate and the well-being of the state's children that the GOP probably won't like.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Speaking of debunking myths, here is one for all my fellow males who think they're better drivers than women.

SOPA & PIPA over the last few days have lost a lot of legislative support (including some former co-sponsors).

According to Rush Limbaugh, a victim is someone who asks for an open marriage with the women he's married to/cheated on (i.e. Newt Gingrich). And people take Limbaugh seriously because...?

Anti-discrimination laws are under assault in Nebraska.

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ)
The GOP has made their choice on who will respond to President Obama's "State of the Union" address next week. I'm not yet sure if there will be another Tea Party response by Michele Bachmann.

As of yesterday (before the debate), there was some good news for Newt Gingrich.

Is Governor Christie (R-NJ) still for vetoing marriage equality?

Small business owners have an overwhelmingly negative view of the Citizens United decision.

And lastly, marriage equality in Washington has gotten a few more boosts.

The Wrap-Up: November 28, 2011

Marine Commandant James Amos
Contrary to what we are led to believe, America does not have the best health care system in the world.

In further evidence that the bullying epidemic must be quashed...

Even the most vocal military critic of repealing DADT has said that things have been going smoothly since the policy change.

It seems as though Tim Tebow is cheating on his wife...with Jesus.

Smartphones may not be so great soon for people who value their privacy.

A GOP attempt to block Texas' redistricting plan has been thwarted.

Rep. Barney Frank
This is an important (and totally true) quote from an Elizabeth Warren video that surfaced some weeks ago.

Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) announced today that he will not be running for reelection in 2012.

Even the most religious of people can have their minds and hearts changed.

Marriage equality will be a particularly hot topic in Australia this coming weekend.

Nick Novak (K - San Diego Chargers)
A Nebraska teen is attempting to put marriage equality on the state's ballot for 2012.

In neighboring Kansas, the teen who tweeted something not so nice (yet rightly deserved) about that state's governor is standing her ground...

Which seems to have worked as now, it is the Governor who has issued an apology.

And lastly, there was this unfortunate incident at yesterday's Chargers vs. Broncos game (besides the Broncos winning that is). Hilarious, but I feel really bad for the guy all the same.
