Fox Host Confronts Majority Leader Cantor (R-VA)
From Think Progress:
Fox News’s Chris Wallace challenged House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and the GOP-controlled House for failing to pass key appropriations before the government runs out of money in September, demanding to know why the party is wasting time holding its 40 Obamacare repeal vote and pursuing other highly partisan partisan measures.
“Rightly or wrongly, none of the bills you passed is going to become law,” Wallace told Cantor on Fox News Sunday. “You have only passed four of 12 appropriations bills you are supposed to pass. We face a government shut down in the fall. Is this the best time to spend your time, passing bills that won’t become law?”
Cantor responded by accusing President Obama of delivering campaign speeches and failing to consider measures the House has already voted on. But Wallace wouldn’t hear it, reminding Cantor that the GOP couldn’t advance a comprehensive Farm Bill and had to pull a transportation funding measure after moderate House Republicans balked at its deep cuts. “Why not do what the House is supposed to do?” he pressed. Watch it:
I would like to note that cantor said 'growing deficit." Is he aware that the deficit is falling at the fastest rate in several decades? Apparently not. Maybe he meant to say "growing debt."

Sen. Graham (R-SC) Happy About NSA Intrusion
As someone who is a Verizon customer, even though I have nothing to hide, I find this utterly appalling and would do regardless of who ever is in power. Those who are actually for less government intrusion in people's lives, left or right, should be deeply troubled by this. The Republican party bills itself as the party of small government and less government intrusion. Senator Graham - a "conservative" senator from one of the reddest states in the Union - is one of the party's big names and is frequently doing interviews with the press. Saying that he is happy that the federal government has the phone records of almost a third of the country is definitely going to tarnish the GOP brand, which is already in dire straits. Given his elation at this massive intrusion of government, Senator Graham can no longer call himself a small-government conservative (not that he could before).

Fox's Bill O'Reilly vs. Fox's Laura Ingraham
This is so good it has to be fattening.
Seriously though, I'll take issue with a particular thing that was said. Laura Ingraham says that this debate over marriage equality is new and if given time, those who support "traditional marriage" will come up with better reasons than just the Bible. That statement is factually incorrect all over. The Defense of Marriage Act is about 17 years old and we have been having this debate at least that long. This debate is, thus, not new. Those opposing equality have had decades to come up with a justification for their position beyond the Bible, and they have. The problem for them is that justification is based on "social science" from sources (these sources being primarily biased towards social conservatives) which have been debunked one by one by social science from sources of good repute. The Regnerus study for example is one that, since its publication, has been sited time and again by social conservatives. Unfortunately for them, this study is plagued by methodological problems, the fact that it was funded by decidedly conservative forces, and the man behind the study has said it was skewed to sway the Supreme Court when they took up the issue of marriage equality.
Despite the supposed justifications from social conservatives, people are less and less inclined to buy into their view on this issue. With the science demonstrably against them, thumping the Bible is pretty much the best thing social conservatives have left. It is too bad for them that it is not enough, and America is not a Christian theocracy.
