Sure Target says that it had given to politicians saying it was for economic reasons and it had nothing to do with anyone's anti-gay political views. However, given the totality of the facts laid out in this video (watch the whole thing), it seems that these "economic" reasons are a complete smoke-screen for the truth of how anti-gay some of the higher-ups truly are.
