Limbaugh's Advertising Woes Continue

From Salon.com:
Despite sources close to Limbaugh that accuse Dickey of scapegoating the radio host for a bad quarter, Limbaugh himself has addressed his advertiser woes in the past. But Limbaugh doesn’t see his offensive bloviating as the problem driving mainstream advertisers away; instead, he accuses media buyers who are ”young women fresh out of college” and “liberal feminists who hate conservatism” of “trying to harm” him.
But Cumulus isn’t the only company reporting Limbaugh-associated loses, as Media Matters’ Angelo Carusone notes:
Cumulus isn’t the only radio company reporting significant losses attributable to Limbaugh. Dial Global has also attributed millions in losses to Limbaugh. Many others in the industry report negative consequences resulting from Limbaugh’s recklessness. Consequently, this Limbaugh source’s contention that Cumulus’ advertising problems have nothing to do with Limbaugh falls apart when we look at the rest of the industry. What would this source say in response to the ills faced by other companies in connection to Limbaugh’s show? That it’s all their fault too?
A Mediaite source agrees that the Limbaugh problem is far from limited to Cumulus, explaining:  “The vast majority of national advertisers now refuse to air their ads during Rush Limbaugh’s show.”

Rachel Maddow Takes on Rush Limbaugh

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot. He doesn't even know the name of the film which he is talking about even though the rest of the world has known it for the better part of a year? If he doesn't know something that simple, why should we think he knows what he's talking about with the rest of the garbage he spews?

Is "The Dark Knight Rises" an Anti-Romney Plot?

The idiocy that is Rush Limbaugh strikes again.

I'm guessing that Limbaugh has not even seen this film, given that it hasn't come out yet. I guess Limbaugh thinks that everyone else is as ignorant as his listeners are.

The Wrap-Up: May 23, 2012

The growing national trend towards marriage equality continues...despite what the ignorant Bristol Palin has to say.

The obvious reason for Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker defending Wall Street over President Obama: campaign contributions. This is why we must get corporate dollars out of politics.

Rush Limbaugh's ratings are way down. Gee, I wonder why...?

The North Carolina "pastor" who essentially called for gays and lesbians to be placed in concentration camps (because obviously, this is what Christ would want) is facing a major backlash.

Dan Savage may be accepting a debate challenge from Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage (Discrimination). The details he lays out are...interesting.

An Ohio student has officially won the right to wear (in school) a shirt saying "Jesus is not a homophobe."

Former Green Bay Packers (GO PACK GO) running back Ahman Green talked with Outsports about having gay siblings among other things (SPOILER: Green is a class act).

And lastly, the intersection between being black, being gay, and being  Christian.

International Women's Day (wait for it...)

Here are some people who will NOT be celebrating this day:

BRYAN FISCHER (President of the American "Family" Association):

GOVERNOR BOB McDONNELL (R-VA):

Amid continued protests from Democrats, Republican Governor Bob McDonnell on Wednesday signed into law a controversial bill requiring Virginia women to undergo an ultrasound procedure prior to having an abortion.

The bill sparked national debate this month over a provision that would have required many women to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds, which opponents decried as medically unnecessary and physically invasive. McDonnell, a conservative who opposes abortion rights, ultimately requested that mandate be stripped. The Virginia House of Delegates passed a revised version last week that allows women to "reject" a transvaginal ultrasound and instead opt for an abdominal ultrasound, which generally yields less information in the early stages of a pregnancy.

In a statement Wednesday, McDonnell reiterated his support for the bill, which he argues will provide additional information that "can help the mother make a fully informed decision" about having an abortion.

"This bill does not legally alter a woman's ability to make a choice regarding her pregnancy," the statement said. "It does, however, put Virginia in line with 23 other states that have some type of requirement that a woman be offered a view of an ultrasound before an abortion can be performed."

The bill is slated to go into effect on July 1.

BILL O'REILLY & BERNIE GOLDBERG (Fox):

RUSH LIMBAUGH:

No explanation needed (unless you've been living under a rock for the last week).

The Wrap-Up: March 8, 2012

The Romney campaign's spin on Super Tuesday: the other guys should just quit.

As the FA in the U.K. makes a push to end homophobia in soccer, some of its players are being fined for homophobic tweets.

Rush Limbaugh has a new female target...

and far fewer advertisers. His implosion continues.

State Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-WI)
A Wisconsin legislator has a VERY broad definition of what constitutes child abuse...like being a single parent. Seriously, who votes for these clowns of the Earth? In a perfect world, this lunacy would ultimately result in a loss. Then again, this is the state with Scott Walker as Governor, so there's that.

A South Korean actor talks about his experience of coming out and being gay in the quite conservative nation.

As the U.N. Human Rights Council attempted to tackle anti-gay violence, some African and Muslim nations had an unfortunate reaction.

A Washington judge will have to decide if the state's recently passed/signed marriage equality bill "redefines" marriage. Ah, the intricacies of law.

And lastly, this is what happens when people who are SUPPOSED to be on Lithium go without:

The Wrap-Up: March 7, 2012

Super Tuesday results. As I set this to post, Alaska's polls just closed and Ohio is too close to call (with Romney leading by a few thousand). As for the other 8 contests of Super Tuesday, Romney won 4, Santorum 3, and Gingrich 1.

Addendum: Romney won Ohio...barely...and Alaska.

In other Ohio news, several incumbent Congressmembers (from both parties) lost primary challenges, including Dennis Kucinich.

All of those voter ID laws that the Republican party has been pushing for across the nation has claimed one of their first victims: an 86 year old veteran with a VA issued ID. Absolutely unacceptable.

Gingrich reiterates his pledge to get the U.S. back into space. Many of us feel like he is already there right now thinking he'll win his party's nomination.

If Ann Romney really doesn't think she is wealthy, girl needs to learn some math.

Here in Virginia, GOP senate candidate George Allen has been deafeningly silent on the state's most controversial pieces of legislation.

Rush Limbaugh thinks there is such a thing as over-educated. Ironically, he is evidence that there is such a thing as under-educated. Also, he really needs to learn to shut his gob.

Apart from the lives that the Anoka-Hennepin school district's inaction cost (which was far too high), the financial cost just went up as well. Hopefully they learned a lesson and will change for the sake of the kids, some of whom they have failed completely.

And lastly, it really sucks to be...whoever this kid is. Serves him right though.

The Wrap-Up: March 6, 2012

HAPPY SUPER TUESDAY!!! Today will see 10 states hold their primary or caucus. The big question is will today's results clarify the GOP race?

Rick Santorum keeps giving us evidence of his theocratic nature.

I'm sure that this surprises no one, but, in Colorado's debate over civil unions, Focus on the Family (based in that state) is conveniently forgetting not to bear false witness.

The Human Rights Campaign certainly has its detractors, even on the pro-LGBT side. However, they have recently made what is being called a bold move.

In a Washington Post op-ed, Jonathan Capeheart explains why black and gay people SHOULD be working together for civil rights.

Even before this "slut" fiasco, did Rush Limbaugh really have the ratings that everyone claimed he had?

The play about the legal battle over Proposition 8 has helped to raise a lot of money.

A former cast mate and members of the faith community are sounding off about Kirk Cameron's "unnatural" statements.

The "ex-gays" of Minnesota were dealt a legal blow.

And lastly, Michele Bachmann sounds just as asinine as ever.

The Wrap-Up: March 5, 2012

Republican operatives and politicians appear to be looking for an end to the nomination process on Super Tuesday (with 10 states having primaries/caucuses), which is tomorrow.

Nancy Pelosi lambasted the Republican party on their governmental priorities (i.e. yes to controlling what women and gays can do, no to protecting the environment, education, health, etc.).

Rush Limbaugh offered a half-assed apology for calling Sandra Fluke a slut (for advocating for contraception). Even as big as he is, half-assed is NOT enough. Of course I'm convinced that the apology has more to do with the fleeing advertisers than any genuine sincerity.

Speaking of contraception, it has had some very significant long-term economic implications.

Rick Santorum may be regretting calling President Obama a snob for being pro-university. That stance certainly hasn't been helping him in his presidential race.

The American Family Association calls for a boycott (or as the group's president calls it when liberals boycott, "Economic Terrorism") for having an Archie comic with two men getting married. What happened next is pretty hilarious and awesome.

Virginia's legislautre has defeated something being referred to as the "Tebow Bill."

And lastly, there were some great responses by celebs and (former) fans to Kirk Cameron's homophobic remarks.
